Hero as a warrior and a lover

I am Neil Richard Coats. When you first meet me, you'll probably get along with me. I am a very relaxed guy. I usually don't get mad. My hobbies are playing soccer, football, and just plain hanging with my friends at the lake. My best friends are Travis, Jake, my brother Ryan, and David. The lake is a whole different world to me. I can think all I want without any distractions. The reason why the lake is so important to me is because about 2 years ago, my parents bought a boat dock at Lake Ray Hubbard. I was able to do really whatever I wanted. I could drive our boat or fish. It was so special to me. At home and school, I am a hero and a warrior. I am constantly working and fighting to get a starting spot on my school's football team. At the lake, I am a hero as a lover. I can think about everything in my life including the feelings and emotions I have.

My Journey

When I grow up, I plan on going to college and pursuing a career as a police officer. I also plan on getting married. After 2 years as a police officer, I plan to move on to the FBI. After I work for the FBI for 5 years or so, I would like to join the FBI's Hostage Rescue Team. As far as my marriage, I would love to have some kids with my wife. That would be awesome! As I wait for my journey to unfold, I am going to work hard. I am going to try as hard as I can to make good grades and make the right choices. I know that God will help me out throughout the way to help me do the right things. I know that He will help me overcome any and all obstacles that lie ahead of me in the future.

The Mentor

I have a favorite uncle who is my mentor. My Uncle Michael is my mom's brother. He always likes to joke around and have fun. That is just like me. I love having fun! I've known him all my life. It seems that him and I connected ever since I can remember. He is also always there for me. I can talk to him about problems going on in my life. I can ask him about sports, girls, grades, friends....really just about anything. He always has good advice for me to use. He is also an uncle that all of my friends like too. They tell me that I have the coolest uncle ever. That really makes me smile.

Threshold Guardian

My brother,Ryan, is my threshhold guardian. He is always around to help me if I need him. He will always have my back no matter what goes on. We sometimes get into little fights, but we always make up in the end. That makes it nice. Ryan also guides me down the right path, eventhough he, himself, has made mistakes. He does not want me to make the same mistakes that he has. He watches out for his little brother. I am very lucky. He is the best brother ever.

My Shadow

The devil is my shadow. The devil is always trying to get me to do the wrong thing. Sometimes he wins, but I always strive to do the right thing. I'm human, so I do make mistakes. But I'm getting better everyday at doing the right thing. I can beat the devil by praying everyday and believing in the Lord. The Lord will always guide me down the right path and watch over me through good times and bad times. I'm so happy that the Lord is on my side. I don't know what I would do without the Lord.

My Trickster

My Trickster is most definitely one of my best friends, Travis. I've known him for about 7 or 8 years now, but I really didn't talk to him at first. He was just a person that I knew. I really started to talk to him during 7th grade, and soon after that, we became best friends. He is always there for me. He helps me if i need money, help with homework, or just somebody to talk to. He comes over to my house almost everyday, and we have so much fun. We have a lot of inside jokes, which are really funny. We laugh a bunch! He is the one who makes me laugh the most.

The hero has a loyal band of companions

My loyal band of companions are my friends! They can chill and be relaxed, but are ready to party and have fun. They are the best! We always have so much fun when we hang together. These people include: Travis Tamez, Ryan White, David Pannil, Ty Harris, and DeeJay Christianson. The other nice thing about this band of companions is that they are also by my side when I need to be cheered up. Sometimes when life brings problems or worries, they help me get through it. They are the best!

The hero years for the beautiful lady who is sometimes his guide or inspiration

There is one beautiful girl that is always on my mind. She is so sweet and makes me laugh all the time. She has honestly never let me down. She is just so nice and wonderful. Everytime I think about doing something, whether it is bad or good, I always think of her. I ask myself, "Would she like that?" Then I ask myself, "Is this getting me closer to her?" Then I know exactly what to do. She is truly my inspiration. I wish she felt the same.....

The hero struggles for something valueable or important.

I am constantly trying to get a starting spot on my high school's football team and soccer team. Most days I wake up and ask myself, "What am I going to do to get better, stronger, and faster? How can I get my spot?" It is very hard to get a starting spot because I am a freshman and I am competing against sophomores and juniors for the same position. Most of them are stronger and bigger than me. That makes it really, really tough. Honestly, I just pray that nobody gets hurt. That is the main point, but I will always work my hardest to get to my goal....a starting position on those teams.

The hero undergoes some type of ritual or ceromony

My religion is Catholic. Last year I made my Confirmation. A Confirmation is when you confirm your belief in God and Jesus. It is a ceremony to get closer to the Lord. It is an amazing feeling to have. You can feel God get closer to you and you know He is there watching and guiding you. He is always making sure that you are doing the right thing. Also, at the end of this life, you know that there is eternal life with Him....John 3:16. You will be with Him forever. I wish that everyone could go through something like this. It changed my life, and I am so thankful for it.

The hero is naive and inexperienced

Many teenagers today think that they are very experienced heroes and "know it all." I used to be one of those teenagers. Actually, we are one of the least experienced heroes in the world. The people that we should really look up to are older people . We should respect our elders and watch what they do....learn from them. We can see how they became the experienced heroes that they are. Sometimes you have to be humble and listen rather than boastful and loud. If more teenagers did this, then the world would be a better place.
